Instructional Objectives
During
the unit,
the student will attempt to demonstrate:
- resource
skills by successfully finding all of the information necessary to
complete prepared questions for each activity through library books
or the internet.
- the
ability to successfully schedule and allot time necessary to perform
independent activities.
- an
understanding of language arts by writing several papers in a logical
sequential manner with complete thoughts and correct sentence structure.
- an
understanding of vocabulary words by defining the hyperlinked words
in the body of an email and sending the "pre-addressed"
email. The first word, "leisurely," provides an example
of a brief description and definition - you may view this by clicking
and holding on the hyperlinked word. Remaining words should include
the part of a sentence (verb, adverb, adjective, etc.) and a brief
definition as it relates to this story.
After
completing this unit,
the student will attempt to
- correctly
list three types of fruit native to the Caribbean Islands.
- correctly
relate, verbally or written, at least one method of obtaining water
on the fictional island in the unit.
- correctly
point out the Carribean Sea and Islands on an unlabeled world map.
- correctly
identify, through the use of pictures, at least four different clouds
and explain the weather indicated by the presence of each cloud.
- explain,
verbally or in writing, the cause of ocean tides and how tides can be
used for time measurement.
