Red-Bellied Woodpeckers

Red-bellied woodpecker--it does NOT have a red belly, but it gets its name from the small pinkish area on the belly which is only noticeable under the best viewing conditions. The red-bellied woodpecker adult is just over eight inches from head to the tip of the tail.

Males have red extending from the top of their heads to the back of their necks. The male is shown below.

Above (4) photos, the reddish/pinkish area can barely been seen on the male hanging onto the suet feeder.
